German scientists Gunther Nimz and Alfons Stahlhofen said that in practice they managed to move an object faster than the speed of light. Physicists from the University of Koblenz say that practical experiments have made it possible to refute existing theories about space-time, reminds MIGnews.com.
But, according to Albert Einstein's theory of relativity, in order to set an object to move at the speed of light, it is necessary to endow it with an infinite amount of energy.
In the experiment, the researchers were able to instantly disperse microwave photons of light between prisms that were three feet apart. According to German scientists, the speed of the photon has exceeded the existing maximum rate - the speed of light, which is 299 792 458 meters per second.
Scientists continue to discuss the applicability of this achievement in various fields: for example, in the summer of this year, astrophysicists from Baylor University (USA) presented a mathematical model of a hyperspace drive for everyone to see, which, presumably, will allow dissecting the vastness of space at a speed much higher than the speed of light.
